Abstract:
This research paper presents a comprehensive taxonomic and ecological inventory of macrofauna across central Indian ecosystems, utilizing high-resolution field photography as a non-invasive tool for biodiversity assessment. A total of ten prominent species-comprising six avian orders (including specialized piscivores, canopy apex predators, and insectivores) and four mammalian families (including keystone megafauna and apex terrestrial carnivores)-were documented, cataloged, and analyzed. Given the author’s primary operational research background via RITS AQUALIFE LLP in optimizing inland aquaculture frameworks, water quality metrics, and closed-loop microbial ecosystems (Biofloc technology), special analytical focus is directed toward wetland waders such as the Painted Stork (Mycteria leucocephala) and the Asian Woolly-necked Stork (Ciconia episcopus). The survey establishes that the population density, nesting success, and foraging behaviors of these wetland species serve as critical, highly sensitive bio-indicators of the biological and structural health of surrounding terrestrial watersheds. Furthermore, this paper explores the ecological interdependence between commercial inland fisheries and wild macrofauna, demonstrating how modern, sustainable aquaculture engineering can mitigate nutrient runoff, preserve edge-habitats, and support regional biodiversity conservation. Ultimately, this documentation underscores the necessity of combining disciplined field zoology with sustainable aquatic resource management to safeguard vulnerable species across dynamic, human-influenced landscapes.
