Examining Research Productivity from 2013 to 2022 of Geography Faculty in Aided-Affiliated Colleges within the Pune Area of SPPU University, Pune

Abstract:

This article investigates the research output of the Geography faculty in aided affiliated college in the area of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune. This study is based on a survey observations, and interviews of geography faculty. There are 210 research publications throughout the study period (2013-2022) in various channels of publications. The ongoing investigation employs a multifaceted approach, utilizing observations, interviews, and the curriculum vitae of the Geography Faculty to scrutinize the research output within an aided affiliated college in the Pune region of SPPU University, Pune. A critical aspect of this study is delving into the intricacies of the Geography faculty's research accomplishments, focusing on comprehending their output, interests, collaboration trends, and the challenges they confront. This understanding is pivotal for enhancing research activities and making meaningful contributions to the evolution of geographic knowledge. The potential impact of implementing recommendations derived from this study is substantial, offering a chance to elevate research productivity and foster academic achievements in the realm of geography. Recognizing the importance of furthering this cause, it is imperative to conduct additional studies and initiatives that can provide a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by faculty in their pursuit of research excellence. Throughout the study period spanning 2013 to 2022, a comprehensive analysis identified a total of 210 research publications disseminated across various channels. Dr. More Jyotiram emerged as the most prolific contributor, with 43 research papers (20.47%) published through diverse channels. Notably, among the Geography faculty members, Seminars were the primary communication channel, chosen by 51 individuals (24.2%) for the dissemination of their research publications.
